IPS Controllers Pressure Switch

The IPS Controllers Pressure Switch provides extra, affordable protection against accidental chemical exposure.

Mechanical failures and human factors can create serious situations whereby a swimming pool circulation pump stops, but the chemical controller continues to release treatment chemicals. If the circulation pump stops, the IPS PressureSwitch shuts off the controller preventing unwanted chemical release.

It’s easy to install. Include our companion PressureSwitch with every new installation of an automated chemical controller and add one to every existing system. More and more health departments are requiring extra layers of protection.

Features:

  • Goes beyond Electrical Interlock by protecting a system from loss of circulation pump prime
  • Compatible with any automated chemical control system
  • Adjustable minimum pressure requirement (2-11 PSIG)
  • Simple to install, plugs into any GFCI outlet An affordable solution
  • All components are UL Listed
  • Comply with health departments requiring secondary safety layers
  • One-year parts warranty

How It Works:

The IPS PressureSwitch protects by interlocking the electrical power to the chemical controller with the pressure created by the circulation pump should it lose its prime, or its power is shut off.

In many installations, the PressureSwitch will be on a separate circuit from the circulation pump. The pressure from the pump will turn on the PressureSwitch that allows the electricity to power up the controller. We tee off on the influent side of the Flow Cell and run water over to the PressureSwitch. When there is pressure from the pump, the PressureSwitch turns the power on and when there is no pressure from the pump (it is off or has lost prime) the PressureSwitch turns off. Thus, if the circuit powering the pump is tripped, power to the controller is also tripped and no chemical will be injected.

The PressureSwitch can be used with any chemical automation system equipped with a functioning Flow Switch.
