The Haviland Filter Cleaner is a liquid formulation of grease cutting compounds and other ingredients designed to remove body oils, suntan lotion, grease and other organic material as well as scale and mineral build-up from filter media. Liquid Filter Cleaner is designed for spa, hot tub and swimming pool filters.

The Haviland Filter Cleaner is a liquid formulation of grease cutting compounds and other ingredients designed to remove body oils, suntan lotion, grease and other organic material as well as scale and mineral build-up from filter media. Liquid Filter Cleaner is designed for spa, hot tub and swimming pool filters.
Directions for Use:
- Cartridge Filters and Removable D.E. Elements/Grids - Remove filters and rinse with clean water. Prepare Filter Cleaner solution by adding 1 quart of filter cleaner to 5 gallons of water in a large plastic bucket or garbage can. Do NOT use galvanized aluminum or porcelain containers for soaking. Always add filter cleaner to water NOT water to filter cleaner. Place the filters in the Filter Cleaner solution and allow to soak for 12 hours. Remove the elements and rinse thoroughly with clean water. If possible allow the cartridge and D.E. elements/grids to dry before reinstalling in the filter housing.
- Sand Filter or Filter Without Removable Elements/Grids - Backwash filter then shut off pump and drain water from filter. Leave handle in backwash position. Make sufficient solution by adding 1 quart of Liquid Filter Cleaner to 5 gallons of clean water. Remove hair and lint cover. With handle in backwash position slowly pour the Filter Cleaner solution in hair and lint pot with pump running. Do not allow pump to run dry. Continue adding the solusion until the sand or elements are covered. Shut off pump and allow solution to stand in filter for 12 hours. Backwash filter until backwash water is clear, then return filter to normal operation.
