What they don’t tell you.

What Pentair and the bag manufacturer do not tell you is you need a multi-speed pump to use this separator. If you hook it up to a single speed pump, the initial surge and high flow is so large it will burst the bag. To use it you need to have your pump on the lowest speed (I use 1 on a 4 speed pump), and slowly fill the tank and vent the air out. I then go to speed two and watch the pressure gauge. When it gets to 25 to 30 psi, you need to shut it down and clean the bag. Then repeat the process until the bag comes out clean. Never let it get to the “clean bag” spot on the gauge. I have found if you put more flow than speed 2 or let the pressure get higher than 25-30, you will blow the bag. Just some information from a 35 year pool owner.

Bag Failed Immediately on First Use

As soon as I installed the separation bag and turned on my filter to backwash, the new bag ripped wide open and allowed the affluent to flow into my pool.
