Masks

Snorkeling is a great hobby to have. It makes planning trips much more exciting when you’re trying to visit all the great snorkeling spots the world has to offer. Whether you’re a novice or diehard snorkeler, there’s a snorkeling mask that will be perfect for you at Sunplay.

Modern snorkeling masks are made with silicone face skirts as opposed to plastic ones that don’t fit as well, can be uncomfortable, and crack over time. The silicone is soft and pliable and creates the best seal possible. The lenses are typically made from a tempered glass that has a silicone film that ends up on the lens during the manufacturing process. If you purchases your own snorkeling mask, you’ll want to wash off this film before getting in the water because otherwise, you’ll have a serious fogging problem. You can clean off this film with plain white toothpaste rubbed onto both sides of the lens. You’ll know it’s clean if you can swipe your finger across the wet glass and hear a distinctive squeaking noise. Afterwards, use anti-fog solution before each entry into the water.

After getting out of the water, taking good care of your snorkel mask with ensure it has a long life. When you arrive at your home or hotel, wash your snorkel mask with warm (not hot) water. If it seems particularly grimy, use a soft bristled toothbrush to gently remove any sand or debris that may stick in the cracks and crevices. You can also use a mild detergent like dish soap to clean off whatever else may have gotten on the silicone or lens like sunscreen. DO NOT use rubbing alcohol or petroleum to clean your mask. Dry with a soft cloth but don’t scrub hard enough to scratch the lens. Let it dry completely and then store it either in a tight container like the plastic one many of our snorkel masks come in or a dry bag. Store in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight.

Sunplay carries masks for adults and children that are high quality and guaranteed to improve your snorkeling experience. Feel free to shop by color, brand (Head, Mares, Speedo, etc.), or features like field of vision or nose purging capabilities.
